Right Foot Forward!
Mrs Amanda Miah BSc. (Hons) MCPod. speaks with Damien at Evolution about her work as a podiatrist.
Damien: First of all Amanda, I am very pleased you have decided to make Evolution the home for your Podiatry practice. Can you say a little bit about how you came to train in podiatry?
Amanda: I was in the Army and felt I needed a second career for when I came out. After having some foot problems myself that led to a couple of operations, I realised I could actually help people and make a difference, so I decided to complete a degree in podiatry at the University of Southampton. After graduation my family and I were given the opportunity to work and live in Brisbane, Queensland Australia.
Damien: How was living and working as a podiatrist in Australia?
Amanda: Australia is a great country to live and as a family we definitely had the correct work life balance. Living in Australia was a great adventure, so much to see and do, great weather, great people, and great food, absolutely living the dream. Work was pretty much the same as in the UK except much hotter. (although the air conditioning helped!), feet are feet and have the same problems no matter where you live. Unfortunately we missed family too much and decided to come home.
Damien: And what are your plans for the future?
Amanda: I currently work in the NHS helping to keep the population mobile. As a podiatrist in private practice my main aim is to improve independence, mobility and general quality of life. I am fully qualified, regulated and fully insured to treat a whole host of foot and lower limb issues. My future professional plans are to continue keeping feet healthy and comfortable! I am very excited to be starting this practice and look forward to meeting new clients and providing new and exciting treatments in the near future.
Amanda’s Practice “Right Foot Forward” is based at Evolution: The Riverside Business Centre, Lowestoft. NR33 0TQ. Visits by appointment only.
